Charming, sophisticated, luxurious – typically Munich, but with a proper understatement… that is the

Hotel Munich Palace

of the Kuffler family. In Bogenhausen, close to the Friedensengel and Villa Stuck, it is located in the quiet Trogerstraße, diagonally opposite the Käfer Stammhaus, Munich’s institution par excellence.

The hotel

The 5-star hotel combines the luxury of a modern city hotel with the charm of a family-run hotel. World stars of classical music like to stay here, as do international business travelers or discerning individual guests, who are usually only looking for a hotel in the Bavarian capital, but often and gladly take the Palace on a trip.

The rooms

The Munich Palace now has 89 rooms and suites, some of which are decorated in an urban style, others in a classic modern style. We particularly like the newly designed rooms in the „annexe“. Cozy hallways with velvety wallpaper on the walls lead into the sophisticated feel-good rooms, which have been created from different apartments and are therefore very different in terms of architecture and size.

Handcrafted furniture, fine fabrics and parquet floors define the ambience. While the classic rooms are decorated in light beige tones, the new building with its rich blue and earthy brown tones creates a real Cosy feeling. This is a wonderful place to relax, whether after sightseeing, shopping or successful meetings.

It is remarkable how much effort the owner family Kuffler has put into the furnishing and design of the rooms. Attention to detail down to the smallest detail, you could say, because all the amenities have found their place here. There is nothing lying around on the desks or shelves, as is so often the case in other hotels… a pleasant feeling. Rest for the eyes, rest for the mind.

Some of the rooms have a balcony overlooking the garden, while two rooms and one suite have their own terrace. If you want, you can sleep with the windows open throughout the hotel – where else can you find that in the middle of a vibrant city? It goes without saying that the rooms also have air conditioning.

A fitness and wellness area with Finnish sauna and steam bath awaits guests on the roof. The service program in the rooms is rounded off by Molton Brown care products, a free minibar, daily newspapers, WLAN and Nespresso coffee machines in the suites.

Apropos. The Mainsonette suite with private roof terrace and small garden has its own sauna. The same applies to the spacious presidential suite, which also features a Steinway piano to delight music lovers of the world.

The 60 large-format photographs scattered throughout the house are also truly charming. All but one are in black and white and were created by host Stephan Kuffler himself. In addition to his entrepreneurial life, the hotelier is a passionate photographer and recently published his photo book The Palace Collection (€59 available at the hotel) as a coffee table book with 90 works. In it, mainly motifs from his favorite genre of street photography, from Munich, St. Tropez and the world.

The restaurant

The restaurant has been shining in new splendor since 2017. (

) At lunchtime, it serves light business lunches, while in the evening it offers uncomplicated, high-quality fusion cuisine consisting of international classics such as steak frites or club sandwiches (it’s truly sensational!) and refined, light Far East cuisine. Unsurprisingly, the Kuffler empire also includes the Munich Mangostin restaurant. West and East meet here in the

enter into a harmonious liaison. Subtle colors, comfortable furniture and a wonderful view of the idyllic garden round off the relaxed ambience.

The bar

In one of the few real bars in Munich, house guests, culture lovers from museums or theaters meet with Munich neighbors for afternoon tea or a relaxed drink. It is wonderfully cozy at any time of day or night.
